Case Study: The Unforgettables Foundation Gala
Business: A non-profit organization founded by a minister, Timothy Evans, in 1999. During a decade of clinical ministry to children and their families, Evans assisted families with the many crises surrounding the death of a child-not the least of which are the crushing financial burdens experienced by families with limited resources. Assisted by the Inland Empire community, Evans created The Unforgettables Foundation. The Foundation's mission is to assist low-income families provide a dignified, appropriate burial for their children who have died.
Challenge: To create a concept and marketing collateral for the organizations 2008 annual gala entitled Diamonds & Dice. This marketing collateral package needs to appeal to the community in order to drive ticket sales, building recognition and making their mission heard. The Unforgettables' message needs to convey sensitivity to the mission, while promoting fun and excitement of a casino-style gaming major fundraising event, despite the downturn in the local economy.
Approach: Through this fundraiser, the organization will draw the community together for a common goal of fostering financial support to grow the cause, and acknowledge community and civic leaders and volunteers. Bold graphics of colorful casino gaming and sparkle of diamonds were used predominantly, as well as enticing content and consistency in imagery. Invitations, posters, signage, advertisements, event program, wine bottle labels as parting gifts, and press releases to Southern California media outlets were needed to create a celebratory mood and educate the public on the cause in general.
Since the annual fundraiser is a different theme each year, the event branding would need to be developed without losing the identity of The Unforgettables Foundation.
Conclusion: The Unforgettables Foundation is a growing organization that has a strong presence in San Bernardino County, and continues to garner financial support and volunteers from the community. In turn The Unforgettables Foundation is able to help families in need of support during the most difficult time, a child's death.
